I was really excited to see the variety of main page ideas. This gave me many ideas for our own Media Center page that I run off of the school page. Since we are a junior high and have many privacy issues, i thought that maybe i could put together a composite of authors pictures.
Terrific idea! If you wanted to break into the web 2.0 model, maybe you could add a blog component (set up so you can approve any responses to fit your policy concerns) so students could add their remarks. Or what about setting up a surveymonkey (it’s free) and have the students rate their favorite? You could publish them on the site. SurveyMonkey is free (with a limit of 10 questions and without the ability to download the findings–but you wouldn’t need that…).
Let me know if you want to pursue this together–it would be great for me to learn more…
