A most curious animal: the digital human

You may have seen this video before, but it bears watching again. Created Michael Wesch, Assistant Professor of Cultural Anthropology at Kansas State University, this short (under 5 mins) video deftly captures the increasing mutation of information, and its consumption.

How do digital natives analyze what is presented to them on the web? What is taken for granted and what is questioned? Do digital immigrants react differently? What of the coming generations? Perhaps that’s why we’re bringing anthropologists into libraries…we need a whole new set of parameters to understand how to manage and synthesize this constant digital stream of data.

What do you think? Pull the plug once in a while?
