Did y’all hear that OverDrive will be releasing e-audiobooks that are iPod/Mac compatible in June or July? Is the same thing happening for NetLibrary and wouldn’t THAT be great! I know we are going to have some happy listeners. Glenna/Infomaven

I haven’t heard about OverDrive. There are free iPod compatible audio books available from Project Gutenburg. Most of them are classics, but a fairly good selection.

Borders does not support Macs! Do not be fooled!
This is very misleading. I bought a book from Borders thinking that I could download the book on my Mac and transfer to my iPod. I found them by googling “audiobooks mac compatible” and this text shows on their site:
“download audiobooks for Windows– and Mac– compatible players, including iPods”
Their help section even says “MP3 Audiobooks purchased at this site can be transferred to most Apple devices using OverDrive Media Console.”
Apparently, the “OverDrive Media Console” is a Windows-only product and there is no way for Mac users.
I wrote to customer support 3 days ago and have no heard anything back.
C.S.
The MP3 format (iPod compatible) is an “option” through OverDrive - at least for libraries. I don’t know if it is an option for businesses - services available from business often vary from those available through libraries.
Given the title list that is being offered in the MP3 format from OverDrive Boise Public will NOT be purchasing titles in this format at this time. Titles we own now do not automatically become useable by MP3 devices.
Hope that adds some clarity to the situation. Glenna, Electronic Resources Librarian, Boise Public Library
One more thing - you need to have the latest version (3) of OverDrive Media Console to use the new MP3 e-audiobooks. So if you have not updated your OverDrive Media console you need to do that first and then try using the MP3 e-audiobook. Maybe that is all that is wrong? Glenna
