Join Us

If you are part of the Idaho Library community, then you are invited into the conversation. For a short time only (until we run out), your posts on this site can win you prizes! Here’s how:

  • Blog once and you get a very cool C3 t-shirt (one color, one XL size for all).
  • Blog three times and you get a very, very cool C3 flash drive.
  • Blog six times and you get a very, very, very cool C3 messenger bag.

What’s the catch? Well, yes, there is one. By practicing now, you’ll be ready to join us on our soon-to-be-launched **new and improved** Idaho Commission for Libraries web page.

Want to give C3 a try?

Go to Blog at WordPress.com. Then select “Sign Up Now” at the upper right of the screen. Register to set up a user name and let Anne Abrams know when you have.

She’ll add you to the C3library site as an author and email you when that’s done.

Next thing will be to go to www.c3library.com, click “Blog at WordPress” at the very bottom of the screen, choose C3library on the upper right-hand side of the screen and then you’ll be ready to rock n’ roll!

  1. Hi all - so great to be on the cutting edge here in Idaho. Of course if I’m here this doesn’t bode well for the rest of you - put on your Kevlar and raise your deflector shields. Please tell me which “door” I’m supposed to “knocking at”so I can blog with the best of you. Thanks, Glenna

  2. Hello Glenna!
Thanks for warning us about the Kevlar! Can’t wait to see what you come up with…

Drop Anne and email and let her know you are ready to rock n’ roll. She’ll send you an official invitation (with the C3 link and password from WordPress and then follow up with an email (from her) with the log-on instructions. Happy blogging!

  3. Good morning,

Looks like a great group of folks have already signed up! I look forward to some great discussions (and hopefully a little controversy).

  4. Hi All,
Just got back from the Computers in Libraries conference and want to share with you the winner of the InfoTubey Awards, it is a hoot:

  5. Hey. This is my first attempt at blogging. So, what do I have to do?

  6. As with the others, this is my first as well. As Glenna wrote about being on the cutting edge, I agree in part, I’m not sure about cutting, but definately feel like I’m on the “edge”. Left the ILA conference on Friday, excited about learning to blog. Still in a blog fog though. I see others that have registered and I noticed most used their real name. I was told recently for forums to use a “handle” like in the old CB days. So is there a standard for blogging and forums for usernames? Here’s hoping this goes to the right place….

  7. I went roaming around on the BIG press word site and could not find anything that I wanted to read let alone comment on. I work at a small town library and am interested in books that I can recommend to our patrons. Lots of them are not into murder and mayhem or similar subjects. Any suggestions?
I do have a recommendation for a good read: “Letters for Emily” by Cameron Wright.
    Thank you.

  8. I am anxious to try my luck at blogging. I have just attended the ILA spring conferece in Idaho Falls. I was excited by the information I received and look forward to staying in touch with other “library people”.

  9. denap,

Try Rick The Librarian for more general book reviews.

    This blog looks like fun!

  10. By replying here, have I blogged my first? I want to learn the HOW TOs and WHAT FORs.

  11. I would like to learn more and eventually share blogging with teens at my library. This is where I will make my start.

  12. And by the way, the calendar and clock are off. I’m in Pacific Time Zone, June 6, 5:45 pm.

  13. I just learned of at least two academic libraries (one Innovative and one Voyager) that have their catalogs available as Facebook apps.

Is this a good idea? Well, it does get the library out into the space where our students live. It certainly would be interesting to hear about usage statistics from those two places!

    Have a look for yourself!

UCLA Library has a Voyager catalog search app in Facebook
    (http://apps.facebook.com/uclacatalog/).

  14. First time blogger here. I’m an old (old) school librarian (elementary). Did everything in the above list but when I looked for the C3library on the right hand corner of WordPress it wasn’t there. Do I just have to wait a little longer? Thanks.

  15. Oops! There it is. Just need patience. This is going to be fun.

  16. I’m pretty jazzed to be doing this! I look forward to what the blogosphere can show us and how we can learn from each other.
Wow Facebook catalogs? That sounds pretty cool. I’ll have to check it out.

  17. I second evagweippe’s comment about the time correction. It is now 8:27 PM on July 9.

  18. Here’s my second attempt to “Join Us”. My first one wound up on some other page. Oops!

We have a Library News blog here that I am editor of—check it out at http://www.isu.edu/library and then click on Library News near the center of the page. I’ve been doing it since October.

  19. Hello from the North. Did someone say t-shirt?

This is my first foray into WordPress. We used Blogspot for staff communications for awhile, then moved to a wiki that we use as a procedure manual (and shopping list). We don’t have a lot of time for staff meetings, so we use a Google Group for conversations….THAT can get interesting.

We’ve come a long way from that first Futures Conference 10 years ago (that was my very first experience with the Idaho library community…what an introduction!)

  20. Ok, I am a t-shirt junkie, so you have enticed me to blog! We at the East Bonner County Library District in Sandpoint are thinking about adding blogs to our web page. I have started working on a reader’s advisory blog and have put in lots of links to other web pages - only to have people say: “Why invite people to your blog only to send them out to other sites again.” I guess I need to keep working on it!

  21. At the Commission, we plan to have our staff do the content updates and creation and then write a blog post to the site alerting the library community to its availability. That’s only 2.0 because people can leave a reply to the post. It will get to true 2.0 on our community page. That’s where when you sign in (much more easier than creating a WordPress account) and register, you can create your own posts. Anyone be able to create their own content with blog posts–which is what 2.0 is all about–user generated content. I wondering if you could do the same off your website with your users talking about their latest reads or recommendations… if you are doing the Let’s Talk About It series maybe your readers would be willing to post their thoughts.
